Cyberpunk 2077 review, many problems but worth forgiving

Maybe it’s a little late for to review the Cyberpunk 2077 game by CD Projekt Red (CDPR). However, this is all for the sake of waiting for improvements from the game maker through a number of patches that seem imperfect.

The wait of up to nine years with high expectations thanks to the hype built by CD Projekt Red has failed. Cyberpunk 2077 was released with many problems that might be worse than Assassin’s Creed Unity, which often becomes a meme when talking about bugs in the game.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 not worth buying and playing? According to, this is not entirely true, here is our review for this phenomenal or controversial game.

1. Stunning Themes and Graphics
Many people think that the graphic quality of Cyberpunk 2077 is not as promised or the teaser that CDPR has shown at E3 and other events. If you follow the news about this game, it seems that the graphics quality problem lies in the messy technical game.

But when this problem does not arise and playing in high quality graphics, Cyberpunk 2077 presents a world of graphic quality that is different from other open-world games.

Cyberpunk 2077 presents a futuristic city in 2077 decorated with various colorful advertising billboards. Night City is not the only game arena location. There are a number of cities with different themes, which look slum, business center cities, to barren lands that are isolated from civilization.

The different themes in the game arena create a variety of background stories. The shadow and light effects are heavily polished in Cyberpunk 2077 considering the futuristic city effect is the main draw of the graphics.

Futuristic is not the only theme. The design of the city and its surroundings shows that by 2077 there is friction between people who are starting to adopt a technological lifestyle by placing robotic implants in their bodies or choosing to live in the suburbs.

Unfortunately, it seems that the sex lifestyle is being emphasized more and more as if in the future technology only provides such entertainment. This makes Cyberpunk 2077 in our opinion not recommended for children to play or watch.

2. Interesting Storyline but Less In-Depth Dialog Options
Cyberpunk 2077 offers three options at the beginning of the game before designing your own character. This option is offered to be the initial chapter of the protagonist’s adventure or LifePath.

Unfortunately the options given, namely Nomad, Streetkid, and Corpo, seem to only be the opening of the storyline and the rest are dialogue options that will make the mission easier.

Nor do the effects or consequences of dialogue options feel profound or profound. But overall the storyline presented according to is quite interesting but lacks a lot of climax or makes gamers’ emotions carry over.

It is told of a protagonist called V who begins his adventure as a mercenaries completing various missions to become a legend in the city of Night City, a city containing fixers or which gives various dirty and dangerous missions.

The V struggle is not only that. He must save a life from the Relic technology that is embedded in his head and contains the engram or virtual life of Johny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves, and has the ambition to overthrow the security corporation called Arasaka.

There are not many scenes that can stir the emotions of gamers such as when playing the game Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher who is a senior from Cyberpunk 2077 by CDPR. The sad scene according to might be when V’s friend, Jackie Welles, died on a mission.

3. Attractive Gameplay with Poor Mechanics
Gameplay in Cyberpunk 2077 is very interesting. Gamers will be able to increase their robotic skills and abilities through cyberware, which can be purchased, and is almost difficult to find throughout the mission.

RPG elements in Cyberpunk 2077 can be seen from the Tree Skill that supports the gamer’s style of play, attacking with weapon attacks and “sick” effects or playing it safe by paralyzing enemies remotely by hacking or quickhacking.

If you’ve ever played the Watch Dogs franchise game from Ubisoft, it’s easy to understand the quick hacking in Cyberpunk 2077. Players can hack CCTV cameras or knock out enemies who also use cyberware. This ability of course depends on RAM capacity.

RAM capacity depends on the cyberware mod variant or a chip that becomes the brain of the robotic ability in V’s body. The combination of skill and cyberware is clearly very sophisticated, but everything must be paid for in money.

There is a class level for every cyberware or weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 from Common to Legendary or Iconic, typical of RPG game elements. Unfortunately, the higher levels are much easier to buy via Ripperdoc or cyberware sales and installers.

Gamers will find it hard to rely on looting throughout a mission or game arena to find the best quality cyberware or weapons. Missions are the single best source of money, unfortunately they get easier to complete when your cyberware and weapons are very good.

It’s different from outfits or clothing accessories which also have the same quality level system but are easier to find throughout the game without having to buy. Players can also do crafting or make their own.

The RPG elements in Cyberpunk 2077 are complex but deep and ultimately easy to understand and a lot of fun. Here there are still gaps that can be found, namely a bad mechanical system that makes games often feel unreal.

For example, a bad mechanic can be seen from the option to get off a moving car. Your character will drop and stop like normal, even though in other games like Far Cry 5 the character will fall crashing on the road and get injured.

When firing a gun or throwing a bomb into the water there is no effect of water resulting from the explosion or the bullets traveling through the surface of the water. There are lots of videos on YouTube about how the mechanic system of Cyberpunk 2077 compares to other better games.

4. A Very Annoying Bug
When a game is released, there are not many bugs that appear and don’t really interfere with gameplay so it’s just a joke. The bugs in Cyberpunk 2077 are definitely annoying although entertaining at times.

Imagine, the information from the item you just saw will continue to stick on the screen so that it takes up part of the game’s point of view, including an imposing text dialog box. This effect only disappears when there is a loading moment.

Another annoying bug is the number of times items that must be taken as part of a mission cannot be performed. Furthermore, the steps ordered by the mission do not trigger the next step, so the game seems stuck.

The rest, bugs such as flying cars, NPC behavior or strange enemies can still be considered as entertainment and even make it easier for you to complete missions.

In the end, agrees that Cyberpunk 2077 has many problems and is looking for problems by presenting games that do not meet the promises of the developers if it were not for “high” gamers’ expectations. Now we can only wait for improvements from CDPR.

Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth playing? According to, it is still very appropriate because it has the potential to become a satisfying AAA class game. However, currently for gamers who are planning to buy it, it might be better to postpone it while waiting for repair.
