Assassin’s Creed and 7 Other Games Netflix is Adapting

With the success of the animated Castlevania series and the live-action The Witcher, it’s no wonder Netflix is interested in adapting more games to their streaming service . While games like God of War, Elder Scrolls, Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy are still rumors, Netflix has confirmed several video games that they will adapt into films, TV series or animation.

One of the newest is Assassin’s Creed which is expected to be as good as The Witcher. For more details, just look at the reviews below.

1. Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed is one of the most popular game series in video game history. In 2016, the series, whose newest game is set in the Viking era, received a film adaptation, starring Michael Fassbender, but unfortunately did not get a good response.

Four years later, Netflix announced that it would adapt Assasin’s Creed. So far, there is no information regarding the story or who will be the main protagonist, but in an article on the official Ubisoft website, it is stated that Assassin’s Creed will be made into a live-action , animation and anime series.

2. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime made by Trigger Studio which is based on Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077 itself was released in December 2020 yesterday, while Edgerunners is scheduled to launch to Netflix in 2022.

Just like the game, Edgerunners will be set in Night City but the story will be completely new. Even so, Edgerunners will still involve concepts such as the obsession with body modification and street lifestyle which is also promoted by Cyberpunk 2077.

3. Splinter Cell

Splinter Cell is the second game on this list to be adapted by Netflix. Unlike Assassin’s Creed which got many adaptations in various formats, Splinter Cell will only be in the format of an animated series.

The game Splinter Cell itself was last released in 2013, and the animated series is expected to treat fans’ longing for the action of the main character, Sam Fisher. Splinter Cell is known for the stealth element and the iconic green glasses worn by the protagonist. The story focuses on a fictional division called “Third Echelon” which tries to fight various threats.

4. The Division

Ubisoft dominates this list with one of their games which are also Tom Clancy’s family as well as Splinter Cell, namely The Division, which will air on Netflix. It is known that the format will be a live-action film, but there is very little information on whether the story will follow the game or be completely new.

But just like the game, the film The Division will be set in a post-apocalyptic version of New York City where a deadly pandemic kills millions of people. Jessica Chastain (It Chapter Two) and Jake Gylenhall (Spider-Man: Far From Home) are confirmed to be the main characters.
